five skirts to know

frankly, if till this point in life, the only skirt you are familiar with is an upskirt... you are in big trouble, whether you are male or female. fret not, help is on the way. so this morning (unless you are my readers from the other side of the planet) i'm going to dish out the five skirts that you should know. this is as basic as it can get... if you want a more extensive write-up, please refer to my very good friend: wikipedia

wear the pencil skirt like Eva Mendes and Gwyneth Paltrow

1) straight skirt or pencil skirt, is a tailored skirt hanging straight from the hips and fitted from the waist to the hips by means of darts or a yoke. it may have a vent for ease of walking

Katie Holmes and Kim Kardashian in A-line skirts

2) a-line skirt is a skirt with a slight flare, roughly in the shape of a capital letter A

3) pleated skirt is one with fullness reduced to fit the waist by means of regular pleats or folds, which can be stitched flat to hip level or free-hanging

Sarah Jessica Parker in a boho circle skirt

4) the circle skirt is cut in sections to make one or more circles with a hole for the waist, so the skirt is very full but hangs smoothly from the waist without darts, pleats or gathers

Jessica Simpson in a leather hobble skirt

5) a hobble skirt is long and tight with a narrow enough hem to significantly impede the wearer's stride
