the best and the worst: week 12

what an interesting experience this post is. here i am, sitting in my suite in penang and writing my first post. if i were any regular blogger, i would not have to bother about the timing and release of my posts. however, on The Online Edition, it is my personal standard that the writing does not get affected no matter which part of the world or time zone i am in. so yes, the blogging continues.

back to the material of the week. readership fell drastically this week. i'm not fully certain if it was due to the erratic theme that i adopted. conceptually, i enjoyed the idea but in reality, i guess it didn't sit well with readers. after three months, i must say that i have a better grasp of readership patterns but the struggle then comes, who to place first? my writing, ideas and concepts or the readership figures. in seeking out the balance, we reveal the best and the worst of the week.

this was a close fight between jennifer nettles and jennifer aniston. surprisingly, not many people were interested in the jennifer lopez post especially since she held her debut concert in singapore. that said, i'm glad to have introduce jennifer nettles to many of my friends who, otherwise, would not know who she is.

oops, it happened again. the curse of the final post. haha. well, i take it in good spirits. also, it is a pretty obscure personality so naturally, the views and hits would be much lower. that said, i always think that a person who passes on does not disappear as long as we continually share and talk about them.

anyway, the weekend's here. enjoy it. i sure am!

i am jennifer aniston

Jennifer Aniston

jennifer joanna aniston (born february 11, 1969) is an american actress, film director and producer. aniston gained worldwide recognition in the 1990s for portraying rachel green on the television sitcom friends, a role which earned her an emmy award, a golden globe award and a screen actors guild award. aniston has also enjoyed a successful hollywood film career. aniston received a star on the hollywood walk of fame on february 22, 2012.

in may 1998, aniston began dating actor brad pitt. they married on july 29, 2000, in a private wedding ceremony in malibu. for a few years, their marriage was considered the rare hollywood success. however, the couple announced their separation on january 6, 2005. it was finalized on october 2, 2005. during this period there was intense speculation in the media that pitt had been unfaithful to aniston with his 'mr. & mrs. smith co-star', angelina jolie.

2012: Aniston vs Jolie (ring-side engagement)

in the following months, the public's reaction towards the divorce was reported in the press. 'team aniston' and 'team jolie' t-shirts appeared, with 'team aniston' shirts out-selling the 'team jolie' shirts four to one. well, life goes on and fast forward to 2012.
well, there was no lack of excitement in jennifer aniston and justin theroux's household over the weekend with an engagement party. the wanderlust co-stars celebrated with close friends including demi moore, ben stiller, tobey maguire, ellen degeneres and portia di rossi at the low-key bash, almost four months after first announcing their engagement. justin popped the question on a romantic dinner date to celebrate his birthday at new york city restaurant blue hill in august. the couple then enjoyed a weekend of private celebrations before Justin's rep announced the news in a gushing statement.

jennifer aniston previously admitted the proposal was a complete surprise. aww... that's so sweet. before we go, here's a collection of jennifer aniston's hair-do's over the years. any favourite?

valentino

Valentino Garavani

valentino spa is a clothing company founded in 1959 by valentino garavani. it is a part of valentino fashion group. since october 2008, the creative directors are maria grazia chiuri and pier paolo piccioli. alessandra facchinetti was valentino's creative designer from 2007 to 2008. valentino was founded in 1965 when garavani opened a sumptuous fashion house on via condotti in rome, italy with the backing of his father and his father's associate.

Spring / Summer Couture 2003

valentino already had a passion for luxury and would spend too much money on expensive fabrics never thinking about the financial aspects of his fashion business. thanks to giammetti, garavani was able to focus on the creative aspect of design leaving all business intricacies to giammetti. valentino's international debut took place in 1962 in florence, the italian fashion capital of the time. valentino's first show at the pitti palace was welcomed as a true revelation and the young couturier was submerged by orders from foreign buyers and enthusiastic comments on the press.

after the breakthrough show in florence, garavani started to dress the ladies of the international best-dressed crowd such as his acquaintance from the paris years countess jacqueline de ribes and new york socialites babe paley and jayne wrightsman. in 1966, confident of his client base, he moved his clothes from florence to rome and there, two years later, he had one of his greatest triumphs, an all-white collection, which became famous for the 'v' logo he designed. by the mid-1960s he was already considered the undisputed maestro of italian couture, receiving in 1967 the neiman marcus award, the equivalent of an oscar in the field of fashion.

in 1998 garavani and giammetti sold the company for approximately $300 million to hdp, an italian conglomerate controlled, in part, by the late gianni agnelli, the head of fiat.
