caring is sharing and friendship is magic

all right, it's almost the end of thursday... so the 'highlight' of the day was the release of my new weekly feature, 'fl@me or fr@me'... it took me a long time to decide (and even after the post went live) to do something like this because it really is feeding off a fellow blogger's work... but the decision to go ahead was made cos there are blogs that i think are a waste of time and blogs which are worth repeated visits... and really if all i wanted was high traffic, i would operate a blog of nudity and pornography (that's an idea! but nah...)

anyway, i had to cancel one of the regular posts because of the release... the regular post was about some fashion errors that children (or their parents) make and the lessons we can learn from them... i'll run that post another time but till then, the ship continues sailing...

onto business... so one of the big problems (or benefits) of being a child is the change of wardrobe every few months... adults can buy clothes and wear them for years but children, they just keep growing... well, it's great for families with more than one child of the same gender, you can just do hand-me-downs...

what about those who don't? or families with both boys or girls? well, i have a couple of suggestions for your children's fashion woes...

1) look up a local group of parents: if you haven't done so, just go to facebook and get connected... takes you less than a minute but can potentially save you a lot of money... swap,  trade, buy, sell, barter... with such support groups, you can also look to forming potential friendships and playgroups as well...

2) thrift stores and flea markets: know where your local thrift stores and the operational schedules of flea markets... if you become a regular, the staff or stallholders will call you in advance to inform you about clothes that might suit your children... my thoughts about secondhand clothes: if you don't mind, it doesn't matter...

next, if you are dealing with a problem of surplus...

3) donate: give it away to a local thrift store or charity... every year, i pack off bags of clothes that are in good working condition for a local charity... whether they sell it to raise funds or give it away, you know that you are doing good (and earning good karma points!)

so when it comes to fashion woes, it sometimes is more than just what to wear... it's how we stretch that dollar...

finally if older fashion can become fun family projects... details here!

all in all, it's great to indulge in being fashion forward but let's be savvy fashion people too... fash'on... BAM!
